1st Adopt A Cop Car & Bike Show

The 1st Adopt A Cop Car and Bike Show was held on July 15, 2007, at the Victory Tabernacle Church of God located on Genito Rd. in Midlothain, VA.

Pastor David Price had experienced early the need for this program, as he and his church members had opened their church to Law Enforcement and the community when two Officers had been involved in a call about a domestic disput in Ettrick, with one being killed and another being seriously injured. Pastor Price, as many call him, got involved early and then joined in the first Adopt A Cop (AAC) fundraiser. It was a Special Cruise-In and Chesterfield County Police Fund Raiser held on September 30, 2006, Sponsored by the Southern Knights Cruisers, Inc., as a part of their Adopt A Cop Program. This special event was held at Hardee's located at 1901 W. Hundred Rd. located just East of Rt. I-95 (Exit 61A) in Chester, VA, along with the Saturday night cruise-in.

The 1st Adopt A Cop Car and Bike Show was Pastor David's idea, as he wanted to move it to another level. His church hosted and sponsored the event. They brought in judges and food vendors. The Chesterfield County Police and Sheriff's Office joined in by displaying their finest equipment, used if need be to control crowds or to fight terrorist attacks. Theis event included an opening ceremony inside the the church. It included a chilling performance by the Chesterfield County Police Color Guard. Pastor David spoke to the crowd that filled the church and explained why the church was involved. He then introduced Bobbie Russell and Capt. Steve Neal, two of the AAC Directors. The directors talked breifly about the program and how much it meant to the officers and their families.

The hobbyists and spectators in the community came out to join in the event. They enjoyed seeing all the Classic Cars, Custom Cars, and Trucks that attend, but this event would be special. The weather was great and the vehicles just came in numbers. The lot was almost full. But, this event wouldn't have been what it was without all the support and hard work by several car clubs that donated money. It also required help to put it on. We have to mention Virginia Street Rods, Virginia Classic Cruisers, Southern Knights Cruisers, Central Virginia Mustang Club, and Asphalt Angels Car Club. The event included a live auction and by days end had raised over $2,000. Way To Go! On behalf of all that worked the event, the Chesterfield County Law Enforcement Officers, and Adopt A Cop Virginia, we thank you.
