Adopt A Cop VA Welcomes New Directors
Welcome Capt. Steven Neal
Read more in our Newsletter.

We are asking that you place a single blue light in a window of your business or home in support of our Officers and to keep them Safe. This was suggested by Romanine Cheney of Central Virginia COPS. Check her website at
www.centralvacops.org. This organization was formed in support of the families that are left behind should an officer be killed.
Adopt A Cop of Virginia
Adopt A Cop of Virginia is a Nonprofit Organization formed by local Car Hobbyists, Business Leaders, and Officials in Law
Enforcement, who are dedicated to providing assistance to Police Officers by uniting the Vehicle Hobbyists, Businesses, Police Officers, and

It is commited to helping our Officers, their families, and local law enforcement to
raise Community Awareness and Funds, as needed. But, we need your help and support to make it happen!

Adopt A Cop Pledge
By my support to the Adopt A Cop program, I am making the following pledge:
I will no longer take my officers for granted, and will make every effort to let them know they are appreciated. Should one of them be injured while
protecting me or my fellow citizens, I will let them know their family will not suffer, and I will be there to assist them in any
way possible.
I will let our elected officials know I want my officers to be the best trained, best paid, and best equipped anywhere.
Should they have to use any type of legal force against those breaking the law, I will respect their
decision. Since I cannot be there, and surely cannot walk in their shoes, I will not second guess their decision. I will only
stand beside them and support their decision.
I will let them know, through my support of this program, that they have been *adopted*. When they go
on their calls, they will no longer go alone. My thoughts and prayers go with them, every step of the way.
When I place the official Adopt A Cop decal on my vehicle or business window, I freely and without any
reservation am making a statement, that I am joining with all the other citizens that are saying Thank You, I appreciate your
dedication *To Serve and Protect*, and I stand beside you in support.
Adopt A Cop Program
The Adopt A Cop of Virginia Program, it's purpose, it's mission, and some of the main objectives are outlined below:
It's Purpose: The Adopt A Cop of Virginia is a new organization being formed to be a central
guidance source for the "Adopt A Cop" Program for Virginia.
It's Mission: This organization will lead in the effort to bring attention to the need for giving our
Officers in law enforcement the support they so deserve.
By working with car clubs, other clubs, community organizations and businesses, as sponsors of the program, it is the
intent to promote community involvement to show our Officers:
(1) That they are appreciated and (2) We stand behind them.
Only with a 100% community effort will it be completely successful.
How will it work? The "Adopt A Cop" program includes:
Provide guidance to organizations wishing to be a Regional Representative in Virginia
Provide guidance to Regional Representatives working with Clubs or Organizations working directly with their local
Police or Sheriffs Department.
Further by:
Energizing members of such club or organization; the members, their coworkers, friends, family, churches, communities
, etc. to help with execution.
1) Ex: Officers injured - Get names and addresses so everyone can drop them a note, card, etc.
Help lift their spirits.
2) They need all the prayers and other help they can get at this time.
3) They are more than often taken for granted by the public, as we know. So show them they aren't alone.
That you are there to help them.
Provide information and help, when possible, by working directly with the police department. Most have an approved fund established
to pay for short term help for officers or their families, in case of an emergency, until other help can be arranged and provided.
Also, it can be used to help with other officer and/or community law enforcement programs that the local police department might be
involved with. Adopt A Cop of Virginia does not solicite or collect money. We only work with through local law enforcement offices and the
organizations that sponsor the Adopt A Cop Program in that approved area. Organizations, churches, or clubs must be approved
by the local law enforcement office that they will sponsor.
Result:
Now, that the call is out: "Officer(s) Needing Assistance". We as cruisers, business owners,
and members of the community will answer that call to tell them they are appreciated and to say "Thank You."
Who Wins?
The Officers will feel better about their work and the community where they work. This means that everyone is a Winner!
*Where did the nickname Cop come from? Answer: Cop: Constable on Patrol - This originates from merry olde England.
