1st Annual Powhatan Harvest Fest Party

These are photos taken at the 1st Powhatan Harvest Fest Party.
There were several classic cars on display that received event dash plaques. One was a 1937 Ford Straightback that had
been in the family for years. The owner had received it from his dad. And it ran like a top! There was a hay ride and the lines of people
waiting to participate were long. Everyone wanted in on this ride! The tractor went steady from 5-9 PM. Boy what Fun!
There was a Spooky House that was haunted. There was a big bonfire and you could even cook your own
hot dogs or marshmellows that the Boy Scouts were selling. The Girl Scouts had good peanuts for sale. And there was a
80 gallon pot of Chili that was "BOO Delicious." Mandy cooked and kept it stirred all night. The prices charged for food
were very cheap as the event was to be for the community. The night was a fun night and Mike Dowdy the DJ "Party In A
Box" kept the action going, going, and going. Good Music and Dancing! And prizes and more prizes were awarded.
There was costume judging for all the kids. And boy did the judges have their hands full. The costumes consisted of those
bought in the stores, but many were especially designed and made by the participants and/or their parents. And they
were as cute and interesting as any we have ever seen. And boy what fun thes kids had. The judging was divided into
three age groups: 0-5, 6-11, & 12 & up. The judges almost pulled their hair out on this night. It was just so many kids and
such cute costumes. Anyway, all enjoyed seeing the kids perform and have a good time. All the prizes were donated by
special businesses that are interested in their community and wanted to give something back. Now, these are the
businesses that make Powhatan so special.
